Beautifully filmed portrait of two cousins - once close but lately more distant - who go on a trip to Poland to honour their late grandmother and visit the house she grew up in. Eisenberg is closed-off and awkward, while Culkin is a walking open wound, an emotional wreck who both charms and annoys everyone around him. Deeply moving and very funny, with some profound themes around generational trauma, social constructs and how we as people deal with those who are not able to hold back. Culkin gives an incredible performance, but Eisenberg is career-best as well (and proves to be an extremely nuanced filmmaker). The piano score - very elegantly used - is entirely Chopin. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
